The rapidly developing global HIV/AIDS pandemic is causing devastating human suffering and socio-economic burden. In many countries health practitioners are ill equipped and prepared to deal with all aspects of the epidemics and its consequences. Currently, many health practitioners miss important international developments and direct support because of language barriers. As a consequence the most deprived and vulnerable i.e. young people living with HIV/AIDS or at risk to become infected do not get the prevention, care, treatment and support so desperately needed.

The Health Connections Initiative website strives to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise between non-English speaking health professionals and English speaking HIV/AIDS, TB and demand and harm reduction specialists across the globe. Through this easy-to-use website, interaction and information sharing is established and promoted among health practitioners with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences.
