HCI’s first eHealth training in Central Asia delivered to healthcare professionals

08-04-2010

Health Connections International (HCI) is pleased to report that the first set of eHealth training seminars for its National Medical Moderators in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were successfully completed. These seminars took place in Osh, Kyrgyzstan, 25–29 March, and in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, 29 March–2 April. The purpose of these trainings was to provide HCI’s National Medical Moderators who man each of its Focal Points across the region with supplemental training on the application of computing and Internet technology in their daily professional work.

HCI would like to extend its gratitude to its national partners who were instrumental in making these seminars particularly successful. Special thanks is given to Civil Initiative in Policy on Internet (CIPI) in Tajikistan and to Civil Initiative on Internet Policy (CIIP) in Kyrgyzstan for their assistance in the design and delivery of the curriculum.

Rustam Maxudov, HCI’s Country Liaison Co-ordinator in Tajikistan, hailed the trainings in Tajikistan as a ‘great success. Participants were quite pleased and obtained a range of computer and Internet-specific skills to assist them in their daily work’.

Likewise, Aziza Jienbekova, HCI’s Country Liaison Co-ordinator in Kyrgyzstan, echoed similar sentiments: ‘Six hours of training were scheduled for each day; but, it was at times difficult to get the participants to stop at the end of each day given that they were so enthusiastic about learning more’.

HCI is delighted with the outcomes of its first eHealth-specific training seminars for healthcare professionals and looks forward to further success in future on similar trainings.
