HCI completes its first strategy & planning trip to Bishkek

Murdo Bijl (Director of HCI) together with Tanja Grechukhina (Regional Advisor–Eurasia Region) completed the first of a series of strategic site visits to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. The site visit to the region took place in late December and included meetings with key national partners and stakeholders, including the National Red Crescent Society of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
An agreement was solidified during this visit whereby HCI’s Country Liaison offices would be housed at the National Red Crescent Society in Bishkek. In addition, preliminary discussions took place with the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health and Ministry of Justice on how HCI’s activities may be further embedded within national structures. In this way, HCI will be better positioned to reach its objective of strengthening national healthcare systems.
